Ahmed El-Amir specialises in an extensive range of eye treatments including, small-incision
techniques, medical retinal disorders, cataract surgery and premium intra-ocular lens
He is a very experienced eye surgeon with practicing
privileges in Harley Street, London’s most famous medical district and is the
founder of The Harley Street Eye Clinic.
He provides treatment for patients with retinal disorders,
vitreo-retinal surgery, the latest techniques in small-incision cataract surgery
and premium lens implant surgery.

Mr El-Amir qualified in 2001; he was then mentored at
Moorfield Eye Hospital with Professor Bird recognising his outstanding
potential. Mr El-Amir enhanced his
skills further; undertaking training approved by The Royal College of
Ophthalmologists and is now experienced in using latest techniques in
small-incision cataract surgery.
He was the very first European surgeon to implant the
miniature telescope (Centrasight Programme). Equipped with vast
skills Mr El-Amir is the only eye surgeon in the world to provide the
Centrasight Programme to patients that have already undergone eye surgery.
In 2001 Mr El-Amir was selected to work with teams at King
Edward VII Hospital, Windsor and the Royal Berkshire Hospital to run a vitreo-retinal
service. During this post he helped train a number of senior advanced trainees
in vitreo-retinal surgery, all of whom now work as consultants internationally.
The Harley Street Eye Clinic
The Harley Street Eye Clinic was established by Mr El-Amir
in 2014 in order to provide private patients with the first class eye care. He
recognises the importance of sight and aims to help patients requiring treatment.
He is famous for his kind and comforting manner.
Mr El-Amir is extremely interested in the development of eye
surgery and has researched in great depth into a new surgical viewing system
for retinal surgery. Additionally, he has helped identify the surgical dye
safety in muscular hole surgery. A published author, Mr El-Amir shared his
expertise in the book ‘Advances in Ophthalmology’. He continues to be highly
active in the research and development of eye treatment.
